Community Workshops to Equip the Church
The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo in The Sistine chapel, Vatican City
Has Hollywood lost it’s soul?
Movies that motivate and inspire are in short supply these days. The reasons many of us were drawn to this industry was because of stories filled with hero’s. Most scripts are modeled after the hero’s journey. The good guy besting the bad guy. Good versus evil. Hope was part of the resolve.
Hollywood has created a culture that has distorted the view of conservatism and faith. There is poor representation and they have taught younger generations to have little to no respect for the church or believers. Focus on propaganda and indoctrination has gotten so bad that it shows in the quality of the work. The art of film making has been forgotten and the craft is on a downward spiral.
The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan, Italy
Throughout history, there have been many talented artist that were believers, like Michelangelo, da Vinci and Van Gogh. Their art told stories about life and it’s struggles.
The builders of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel show the glory of God through amazing architecture. Stories of faith are sculpted on the walls and have lasted the test of time. So much so that we are able to appreciate their labor today.
In today’s modern world, art is not very good and in some cases it’s really bad. It doesn’t carry the same weight. The same goes for faith based media, however, It’s getting better and people are starting to notice.

CONCLAVE is a community workshop designed for churches to equip their congregation through drama, media and tech departments. To help improve the quality of videos, plays, social media content, and live events.
We have to sharpen our skills and talents, like a sculptor preps their hammer and sharpens their chisels. We need to become the tool God can use to carve and reshape our society.
The digital renaissance is upon us. We need to be relevant and make great content for the glory of God. It’s a tall order but media is how we reach the ends of the earth. I believe it’s what’s expected of us and I’m here to SERVE.
MEDIA
It’s Gonna Be Great
Your heart is in the right place, now let’s match your skills. In this Conclave workshop we learn to work with purpose.
It’s a common saying in the film industry. “It’s gonna be great.” It’s a blanket statement said with sarcasm because it’s a contradiction. A scheduled project has a deadline but there’s not enough time, money, or labor. It’s going to be an arduous path and the end result will be less than what was initially expected. So, we put on a smile, work our hearts out and watch the titanic sink. For the most part, everyone gets along because we have a common goal. Everyone pushes and labors to hear the sweet words, “picture wrap!”
There is something to admire about this approach. The dedication level to giving the best is a challenge we should all accept.
No matter what role we play in church media, the quality matters. When we labor for His glory let’s give our best. Let’s go over all the small steps we can take to make a difference and show pride in our work. “By their fruits, you will know them.”
DRAMA
The Show Must Go On
Drama groups can achieve so much for the kingdom. This CONCLAVE community workshop helps navigate the vision.
So much work goes into church drama groups. Especially when you volunteer. The prep and performances. On stage and/or behind the curtain. Directing, acting, rehearsing, playwriting, composing music, lighting, art direction, make up, costumes. It’s becoming a lost art. Unless you’re on broadway, stage plays, skits, or any type of live dramatic performances are going by the way side.
Theater is important and making a play into a film does not translate. There are so many more variables to consider when switching over. A bigger crew and more equipment. Drama performances need to be seen live and in person.
Many believers have felt the need or desire to serve in these types of ministries. Their call is legitimate and they have a purpose to fulfill the live visual representation of faith.

MOVIE NIGHT
LEARN & DISCERN
Watching movies with a divine perspective.
In this CONCLAVE community workshop we break down media into moments of sharing faith and scripture.
Navigating todays media is tricky. To be relevant is to know the culture and engage in what folks are talking about. We need to create a church culture that learns how to extract truth from media to share our faith. We are the bible most people read. The recent rise in faith based media opens doors for us, however, there’s a difference between sustenance and supplements. Let’s learn and discern the difference.
